Who's Who in Mythology: Classic Guide to the Ancient World

Alexander Murray's "Manual of Mythology" sold so well when it was first published that he produced a second edition. He enlarged and expanded it to include, as footnotes, the most notable works of art that particular deities are depicted, thus brooding the scope and usage of this already popular book. The book is devoted mainly to Greek and Roman mythology, telling with great precision and detail the stories of all the gods of the heroes and their deeds. The last three chapters, added to this edition, cover Norse, German, Hindu and Egyptian mythology, justifying the book's claim as a complete textbook of mythology. This second edition dates back to 1874 and is reproduced here with its 45 original engravings, illustrating all the important characters of these dramatic tales. Murray's book is instructive as a classic text book, and invaluable as a reference work.
